Meet and follow the traces of the Incas that headed to the Machu Picchu city. This is a great alternative for those who are interested in hiking through the complete Inca trail. Stages at the trail are from 7 to 8 hours hikes through an Inca trail full of impressive history. Arriving to the last mountain we’ll be able to see the Machu Picchu city with enough time to visit the most important archaeological site of the Incas after which we’ll return back to Cusco city on train.

SCHEDULE
Classical Inca trail Day 1: CUSCO - PISCACUCHO – WAYLLABAMBA.
The tour starts with your pick up at the hotel very early in the morning in our private bus for a spectacular trip through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, which will take us to the starting hiking point 82 Km. (Piscacucho) on the train tracks to Machu Picchu. After being introduced to our porters and support personnel we’ll start the hike, crossing the pedestrian bridge that will take us to this magical and religious path. A two hour hike through the Urubamba canyon arriving to the impressive carved terraces of Llactapata the first archaeological site located in a beautiful natural settlement on the Cusichaca river gorge. Continuing with our hike we will climb through a short path up the valley of Wayllabamba for approximately two hours arriving to our first campsite the last inhabited village of the Wayllabamba path where we will stay for the night and enjoy our meal.

Classical Inca trail Day 2: WAYLLABAMA – LLULLUCHAPAMPA - PACAYMAYU.
In the morning we’ll climb the hill side of Wiñay Wayna to start our second day. Today we’ll climb to 1200 meters (3960 ft) we’ll hike near a wild river and enter a tropical area named cloud forest where we’ll appreciate a wonderful forest of Queuñuas that will take us to the valley of Llulluchapampa where we’ll hike across a small plateau abruptly we’ll find ourselves in the Puna or highlands the tree depopulated area where we will have one of most spectacular views of the Warmi Wañuska pass at 4200 meters high (13,860 ft.) we’ll climb to the pass which will be considered the highest point in our journey with spectacular views of the trail ahead and a view of the second pass, white peaks, and the Huayanay valley. We’ll continue descending through to the Pacay Mayu valley located at 3600 meters (11880 ft.) where our campsite will be ready for us.

Classical Inca trail Day 3: PACAYMAYU – CHAQUICOCHA – PHUYUPATAMARCA – WIÑAY WAYNA
Early in the morning after breakfast we’ll start climbing to the second pass located at 3900 meters (12870 ft.) where we will find Inca stairs, half way climbing this stairs will find the small Runkurakay archaeological site. Before we arrive to the second pass we’ll hike near a lagoon on top of the mountains, where the landscape opens for us revealing a spectacular view of a white peaks chain called the Pumasillo. Now the Inca trail will be more apparent and which will take us to the archaeological site of Sayacmarca (inaccessible town) an intricate labyrinth of houses, plazas, water channels, hanging precariously to a rocky spur named Aobamba. The Inca trail is now a great structure of granite bricks enhanced by tall walls and it continues through the steep cloud forest border through abundant colorful orchids, bromeliads, ferns and mosses. In our passage through Chaquicocha after a deserved rest we’ll enter to a rainy forest that will take us to the highest Inca construction named Phuyupatamarka. We’ll start to descend through an impressive and endless life stone stairs Making a stop to explore the marvellous labyrinth of water fountains, stairs, Inca stone watch towers that are placed down hill of Phuyupatamarka, we’ll continue with the long descend through distinct levels always changing that will conduct us to the magic citadel of Wiñay Wayna (Always young), the biggest and most exquisite of the Inca sites along the Inca trail place for our last campsite and where we’ll have dinner and say good bye to our support personnel.

Classical Inca trail Day 4: WIÑAY WAYNA – MACHUPICCHU - CUSCO
Very early in the morning we’ll have a light hike headed to the INTIPUNKU best known as the Sungate this is the place where we will for the first time appreciate the mysterious Machu Picchu citadel or Lost city of the Incas. Finally we’ll descend the mountain and arrive to our destination Machu Picchu the most important discovery of the last century which has been hidden in the Andes mountains showing us in every step the Inca challenge towards the nature and at the same time showing us the harmony they achieved with it together with our guide we’ll have a guided visit for two hours after which you’ll have the morning free for taking pictures and climb the Huayna Picchu where we will have a beautiful view of the Machu Picchu citadel descending on bus to Aguas Calientes where we will board our train back to Cusco city for your reception and transfer to your hotel.

IMPORTANT: Concern about overuse leading to erosion has led the Peruvian government to place a limit on the number of people who may hike this trail per season, and to sharply limit the companies that can provide guides. As a result, advance booking is mandatory.
A maximum of 500 people per day, including guides and porters, are permitted to begin the Trail every day. As a result, the high season books out very quickly.
NOTE: that the Trail is closed every February for cleaning.
